~This is the first posting on the Bi-Weekly/Bi-Monthly Rant. This part of the Blog is devoted to my own (the author of this blog) views and opinions about anything dealing to the EDM industry in some shape and some form. This part of the blog was made in order to stir up some comments and thoughts from my readers – I do encourage people to participate in the discussion & to express their views. Please do not share any hateful comments to the users, you may direct that hate to me 🙂  This first rant is about a few topics, feel free to comment about any of the points that I talk about in this #1 Rant Posting on EDMRecap! Enjoy!

My Facebook Posting here is about :

  1. Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso’s Newest track: “Roar” ; made for Disney/Pixar’s new movie Monster’s University. The next installation on the Monster’s Inc. Movie Franchise.
  2. The EDM Bubble. Focusing on EDM Festivals i.e. Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas – EDC Las Vegas (LV).
  3. The Money involved in the EDM Industry – the amount of money Artists take in for their Set as well as the amount of money ($$$) that the Major Festivals rake in; Insomniac in particular, having around 4-5 different Festivals & with their biggest Festival Electric Daisy Carnival, EDC – hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada USA, New York City, New York USA [EDC NYC], Chicago, Illinois USA, Orlando, Florida USA, Puerto Rico PR, & their Newest location – London, United Kingdom [England]. With Insomniac selling an average of 150-250 thousand tickets per festival and charging on average $200 US Dollars . . . the revenue for each festival is in the Hundreds of millions of dollars . . EDC Las Vegas had a revenue of over ****$600,000,000 Dollars**** [on 320,000 sold ticket sales for the three day festival: EDC LV].
  4. Finally I talk about Dubstep; Skrillex & how I do not care for Skrillex playing his Remix of ‘Avicii – “Levels” the Skrillex TRANSFORMERS Remix’. Deadmou5 had an amazing explanation of to WHY he did not like . . . why he hates dubstep. I agree with Deadmou5’s explanation and I also provide my own 6 cents on the topic!Call it a Rant, Call it Stupid – well what I write in here is all true!! The only part(s) that are not true are the parts that express my opinions about dubstep . . . they are my opinions – so they are ‘true’ to ME, but if you do not agree with my dislike of dubstep due to the blatant disregard to both audio engineers and to the rules of music production and formation ~ to where dubstep production takes the wave of a sound and the wave of the track in full and just fattens it up so it looks somewhat like a ‘block’ rather than a ‘wave’ . . . Joel explains it perfectly in his interview with Fuse TV. You can check it out on YouTube, or you can scroll to the bottom of this article to view the Interview  . . . & join in on the DE-DUB[step] movement!!*Start of EDMRecap: No.001 [#001] Posting*

@Axwell & @Sebastian Ingrosso . . interesting, your new single “Roar” is for Disney/ Pixar’s New ‘Moster’s Inc.’ Movie: MU; Monsters University . . I always wondered how long it would take for Disney & for Animated Movies to accept and actually use Electronic Music (EDM) in their movies! This is just another reason to show the masses & skeptics that EDM is here to say, for a little while longer! 😉 I mean look @ Insomniac (creators of EDC), EDC Las Vegas had raked in over $600 Million Dollars in Ticket sales (selling over 320,000 tickets for their 3 day festival) EDC also had generated over $260 Million dollars to Clark County – with money that is in the several hundreds of millions of dollars, it can be called EMusic (Electronic Music :p ) or EDD – it would not matter to the bankers and investors! EDM is one of the newest and hottest industries around right now & the season has just started!

~~~Your Thoughts on this track? Does it tickle your fancy? :p Share!~~~
I MUST SAY THOUGH , the EDM Festivals will be the death of the industry . . the bubble is about to explode, artists are charging more and more money for their sets (that are usually a1 Hour Set) and the Festivals are being forced to Raise their prices every year rather than going down in price or even staying the same price!! Smh. What ever happened to “for the love of the music”?, the EDM producers/dj’s are becoming the same people that every other major ‘rise and fall’ genera of music has seen: the artist who made his/her music for the love of the music, having the freedom of expression and making the music not for the money and fame, but for just the music purely…then him/her being transformed into a cash gobbling entity in which the sole purpose of that artist making anymore tracks is based on the amount of money that he/she will make.
I know their are alot of articles written about the EDM Bubble (the Huffington Post Article about the EDM Bubble is a great read), but common – Tiesto, Deadmou5 & David Guetta charging $100,000+, and the(the horrible sounds of garbage, aka dubstep) other Artists that command the top 10,20 and even top 30 rankings of ‘The Top Dj’s in the World’; ranked and listed by Dj Mag, all charge anywhere from $15,000-$70,000 per set (which is usually 1 hour long), based on the venue. Oh and the booking price does NOT include the Rider of each artist, the required list of items/services that the promoter/promotion company that books the artist can be worth up to several thousands of dollars, making the promoters pay for the Liquor, hotel, travel expenses, food, or any other whacky requests that they might have. I am not a hater, I respect the artists and what they have done for the Industry as well as I do respect their movements that they had made to make EDM more acceptable to the masses and making EDM a powerhouse industry that it is today. I am just pointing out that their always is a tipping point – no-one knows when the tipping point will be, but I do predict that it is starting . . . the ‘regulars’ are starting to not attend festival events that are annual to their area, leaving the newcomers to EDM to pay the $250 to attend a festival for 1 out of the 3 days ( on average ).
I guess the message that I am trying to spit out in this pretty damn long post is for people to be aware, mindful and realize the truth behind the golden electric strobe curtain. With EDM Festivals raking in millions upon millions of dollars per each event & reaching a point to where each festival event actually significantly boosts the immediate local area financially ( with EDC bringing in $207 Million Dollars to Clark County in 2012. . . with Insomniac selling 320,000 tickets total in EDC Las Vegas in 2012 – in total, & with an *low* average price of $200 being collected per person – Insomniac had received over ***~~$600,000,000~~*** – **~$600 Million Dollars~** in ticket sales for their 1 out of [now in 2013] 6 EDC locations — giving Insomniac a possible ticket sale revenue of well over ****~~$1 Billion Dollars~~****, crazy? shocking? oh – Insomniac also hosts around 4-5 other Festivals that are not as popular as EDC but still gather on average about ***~100,000-200,000~*** people per Festival; Generating over ***~$300,000,000~*** Per 3 Day Festival on ticket sale revenues).
Money talks and Money also ruins established systems and industries! Be aware! & I also have to add to finish this pretty damn long post – probably my longest post, EVER. If you listen to Dubstep, . . . . . . I really do pitty you :). Deadmou5 explained it perfectly. He said something like this, it is not word for word – this quote is coming out of my memory of the interview he had on Fuse Network; “I do not hate dubstep for its culture, or for its artists or fans. I love dubstep’s culture, artists and fans. I just hate dubstep for its ‘f-u’ to all the audio engineers. Dubstep does not follow the traditional and the setup rules of making music – kids just want music to be loud now, they do not care about anything else other than if its loud and how random the notes can be. [he mentions alot about the technical aspects of dubstep and how it does not adhere to the rules of music].”
I agree with Deadmou5, & i just really cant stand the music . . . no offense to anyone that loves DubbyStep, but I just don’t feel it. Skrillex can play his dubstep version of Levels in my living-room and I would just have a weird look at my face, trying to figure out why people actually listen to to the music that sounds like transformers having coitus (aka sex) with BumbleBee, Megatron & (whichever Transformer is a Female). Well with that all being said, Ill go back to listen to ‘Roar’ by Axwell and Seb. Ingrosso, after-all they are the reason I had started this whole rant, thanks a lot!! — listening to Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell
  1. electronic dance music says :
    This is usually recommended if you need to add any live instrument for your
    samples. It might be slow and spacy, or fast & rhythmic; it passes over numerous musical genres.
